Liverpool’s plan to bring in a new goalkeeper next summer has encountered some problems after newly promoted Wolves entered the race for Jack Butland.
The Potters are looking like they would be relegated at the end of this season as they are currently 19th on the league table, three points from safety.
If they are relegated to the Championship, several of their star men are expected to leave Paul Lambert’s side and Jack Butland has plenty admirers.
Despite Loris Karius’ assured performances since he was made number one, Jurgen Klopp is believed to still be unconvinced by his current goalkeepers. The German has been a long term admirer of Butland and was planning to make his move next summer.
However, Sun Sport reports that Wolvehampton Wanderers are prepared to pip the Reds to the signature of the England international.
Per the reports, Butland is currently valued at £35 million and Nuno Esprito is prepared to pay that much for him.
Butland may prefer a move to Wolves as he would only be a backup option at Liverpool if Karius continues to impress.
Liverpool are through to the Champions League final, and Karius performance in Kiev could be key as the Reds look for their 6th European title.
