Tottenham have missed out on the signing of Jack Grealish this summer after they failed meet the demands of Aston Villa for the signature of the England youth international.
Grealish has been a target for Tottenham all summer and the lilywhites were expected to beat competition from the likes of Chelsea for his signature, however, they left it too late and bided £25 million last night.
Aston Villa turned the offer down for being well short of their valuation which is said to be around £35 million. The Villans were in some serious financial troubles earlier and they would have accepted the money if Spurs have made their offer that time.
But they have since received funding from new partners and they would look to try and win promotion back to the Premier League once again. Grealish has been advised by John Terry to make the step up to the Premier League after failing to lead his hometown club to the Premier League, and it is believed that he was keen on discussing with Spurs due to their participation in the Champions League.
Mauricio Pochettino now faces the possibility of making no new signings before the new season begins.
