Chelsea have been handed a major dilemma by Thibaut Courtois as the new season approaches.
The Blues want the Belgian goalkeeper to sign an extension to his current contract, but he has told them that he has no intention of staying any longer at Stamford Bridge.
Sun Sport claims that the World Cup Golden Glove winner has told Chelsea to sell him this summer or risk losing him for nothing next summer. He has just a season left on his current deal, and Real Madrid have reportedly offered the Blues £35 million for his services.
Chelsea are now forced to consider selling him or write off £35 million in loss on one of their most priced assets.
The 26 years old performances means he can walk into the starting lineup of any team in the world, that is why the Blues want to offer him a new lucrative contract to tie him down in London.
However, it appears that staying close to his family who are in Madrid is more important to the former Atletico Madrid shotstopper.
The report also claims that Chelsea are having a hard time deciding to pay £20 million for a new goalkeeper and they would prefer to keep hold of Courtois. The club is now waiting to see the outcome of a face to face meeting between Maurizio Sarri and Courtois, but they have just 9 days to sell and replace him, if that becomes their only choice.
