Real Madrid are set to follow up their interest in Thibaut Courtois with an official opening of talks with the Belgian.
Los Blancos are currently in the market for a new goalie after Fiorentino Perez decided that Keylor Navas is no longer good enough to be the club’s number one.
They have had a longstanding interest in Premier League stars, David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois, but de Gea is likely going to cost them up to £100 million so they have decided to move for Courtois instead.
According to Don Balon, the European champions are hoping to resume talks with the Blues immediately and wrap up the deal early before the world cup begins.
Courtois’ family currently resides in the Spanish capital and he also had a successful stint in the Spanish capital with Real’s city rivals Atletico Madrid. He won the La Liga with Diego Simeone’s men as has continually admitted that he may not turn down any move that takes him closer to his family.
Chelsea are not interested in selling any of their star men especially as they risk also losing Eden Hazard to the Spaniards also, but the Blues would find it hard to keep Courtois who has already decided against signing a new deal.
