Real Madrid have identified Christian Eriksen as the player that would replace Luka Modric should the Croatian be allowed to move to Inter Milan this summer.
Modric who inspired Croatia to the final of 2018 World Cup in Russia is a target for the Milan side who just secured their return to the Champions League.
Real Madrid have told the Italians that he is not for sale at any price, however, Modric seems keen to try himself in another country and has apparently told the European champions that he wants them to consider Inter’s offer.
Madrid are confident that they would not sell him, however, they have made plans should the unexpected happens and Christian Eriksen is the new playmaker they plan to sign.
Coincidentally, Eriksen is the player who replaced Modric at Tottenham when he moved to London from Ajax. Spurs hold Eriksen in high regards and with no player arriving at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, the Lilywhites would not gamble on selling their prized asset ahead of a very important first season in a new stadium.
Eriksen also appears to be happy in London even though he has just two years left on his current contract. He is closer to renewing his contract than making a move away from the International Champions Cup winners.
