Real Madrid are prepared to smash the world transfer record for a goalkeeper in other to sign David de Gea from Manchester United. Los Blancos have been on de Gea’s trail for a long time now, and a deal to bring the Madrid native back home in the summer of 2015, fell short by a few seconds.
He has since signed a new deal with Manchester United, but Madrid have maintained their interest in signing him. The Spain number one has a year left to run on his current Manchester United deal, although the club has the option of extending that for a further year.
Reports from Manchester Evening News claims that Madrid are preparing to launch a bid in the region of £100 million for de Gea as they look to finally replace the unfashionable Keylor Navas in their goal.
The new appointment of Julen Lopetegui has given Florentino Perez confidence that de Gea would not find it hard to leave Old Trafford as he has a very good long-term relationship with the Manchester United shot-stopper.
De Gea hasn’t done much to assure United fans that he is staying beyond this season, claiming he is happy, but doesn’t know what the future holds.
