Pep Guardiola has set his sight on the next superstar he would bring to the Etihad after securing the signature of Riyad Mahrez this summer.
The Premier League manager of the season was set to land Jorginho last summer before Chelsea beat him to the signature of the Italy international. The former Barcelona manager then decided against signing a new midfielder, however, that may be about to change.
Sun Sport claims that Guardiola is thinking of making a £60 million move for Wolves Portuguese star, Ruben Neves as the former FC Porto star continues to impress for the Premier League new boys.
Neves was the star of Wolves team last season as they wowed their way into the Premier League as winners of the English second division. He has been described as Portugal’s Andrea Pirlo and may not last long as a Wolves player.
Neves has been scouted repeatedly by Manchester City as Pep Guardiola continues to search for the next available super star to join his team. The Cityzens reportedly had scouts on the ground when Wolves drew their first Premier League game against Everton with Neves scoring a stunning free kick.
City travel to the Molineux next and Neves would be looking to impress Guardiola enough to secure a future transfer to the Premier League champions.
Neves is famed for his attacking play which includes scoring stunners as well as setting up teammates to score. However, he also had a defensive side to his game that makes it hard for players to get past him.
This blend of attacking and defensive capabilities is said to be the major reason Pep Guardiola wants to make him his player.
