Arsenal and Tottenham target Malcom would not be joining of them at least this month. The Brazilian youngster has been attracting the interest of several Premier League sides this season, with the North London duo remaining his major suitors.
However, the French side are facing a relegation scrap and cannot afford to lose their best players. Bordeaux have just named Chelsea legend Gus Poyet as their new manager, and the first assurance he demanded from the club was a clarification of Malcom’s future.
Reports in France are claiming that Poyet was assured that Malcom would not be sold this month before he accepted the offer to manage the French side. Arsenal considered Malcom a long term replacement for Alexis Sanchez but they have since signed Henrikh Mkhitaryan and are in talks to bring in Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
Having allowed Georges-Kévin N’Koudou join Burnley this month, Mauricio Pochettino was hoping to bring in Malcom as an extra winger to his team. The Premier League duo would now have to wait until the summer.
But with competition for his signature likely to increase after this season, one of these sides may sign him this month and loan him back to Bordeaux.
Malcom has contributed 7 goals and 5 assists in 21 league games this season.
