Reports from the German media is claiming that Mesut Ozil has agreed a new Arsenal that would keep him at the club for the next four years.
The German was one of two high profile stars at the Emirates Stadium who were out of contract after this season, the other being Alexis Sanchez who has since left the Gunners.
Arsene Wenger was desperate not to lose Ozil again and that may have prompted their recent activities in the transfer marker. The Gunners have secured Henrikh Mhkitaryan from Manchester United and his former teammate, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang is on his way to the Emirates Stadium.
These transfers seem to have convinced Ozil that the club is moving in the right direction. Per the report, Ozil’s new contract makes him the highest paid player in the Gunners’ squad with a basic take home pay of £ 350,000.
An official announcement is expected to be made today or immediately after the close of the transfer window. The Gunners also hope to sign a defender preferably Johnny Evans of West Brom before 11 pm tonight.
Ozil has not had as many takers as Sanchez had and it all seemed inevitable that he would extend his contract with them.
