Manchester United have missed out on the signing of Ajax youngster, Justin Kluivert as he edges closer to completing a move to AS Roma.
The 19 years old has been a shining light in Ajax for the past two seasons and helped the Dutch side reach the Europa League final in 2017, before losing to Manchester United eventually.
He has since been courted by some of the continent’s best teams and he looks set to leave against the advice of his father. Kluivert Snr claims that he has adviced Justin to spend another year in Amsterdam, but he would support him in whatever decision he makes. According to the former Newcastle attacker:
“I personally said to him maybe it’s better to stay one more year at Ajax, to make some kilometres, to be important for the team.
“He’s 19 years old. He’s still young, but he makes his own decisions, and as a dad, I have to stand behind all the decisions that he makes.
“It looks like he’s going to leave Ajax. I think it’s 90 per cent sure that he’s going away.
Reports in Italy claims that the deal is ‘done’ and only a few details is left to sort out.
Manchester United as well as Tottenham were hoping he would join them this summer, but the player seem to have decided to join Roma because he would get more playing time there than with the Premier League giants.
