Manchester United could get Mauro Icardi next summer if they can stump up £135 million.
The Red Devils have been one of many clubs monitoring the 24 years old Argentine star for some time now. The Inter Milan forward has netted 18 Serie A goals in 24 games this season, but Inter Milan’s season has imploded.
The Milan side were one of the title challengers last year, but it has started to fall apart and they are currently struggling to even remain inside the top four.
Despite his reputation as one of Europe’s top target men, Icardi has still not played in the Champions League.
Manchester United are his main suitors from the Premier League. The attackers agent and wife Wanda Nara claimed last week that Icardi would leave Inter in the biggest transfer deal next summer, and Manchester United have been muted as the team looking to make that deal happen.
However, the Red Devils would be prepared to pay a new release clause worth £135 million.
Icardi is in talks with the Italians to increase his current weekly wage from £120,000 per week to £155,000 per week with a release clause of £135 million.
Inter want him to remain with them as they rebuild their team that has fallen behind the elite Italian sides over the years.
