Manchester United’s bid to sign Barcelona’s defender, Samuel Umtiti may be a long way from being completed after the player’s latest admission.
The Red Devils have been pursuing a deal for Umtiti since last summer when his release clause was made public at a figure lower than £60 million. However, the Catalans have refused to talk and they have also showed no fear that he may ask to leave them after just one season at the Camp Nou.
The player has also claimed that he is happy at the former European champions even though he is one of the lowest paid players in the team and has asked for a new contract.
In the last episode about his future, Umtiti confirmed that he was happy at Camp Nou yet again and would only leave when the Catalans decide to throw him out.
According to him: “I’m at a club that allowed me to realise my dream of playing there.
“I’m still under contract at the moment. So for me to leave, either they throw me out the door or I decide to leave.”
The 24 years old has been the club’s star defender since he moved from Lyon and Jose Mourinho wants him to come and fix his leaky defence as they hope to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title next season.
