Manchester United are about to lose one of their key men as reports claims David de Gea has agreed to join Real Madrid.
The Spain number one came very close to signing for the European Champions in the summer of 2015, but the deal fell through at the very last minute. Los Blancos have kept it touch with the 27 years old since then and he has also maintained an interest in returning back to his home town.
Don Balon claims that move could happen next summer. The report even claimed that the de Gea has met with Florentino Perez and they have reached an agreement for him to join them.
De Gea is said to be ready to push through the move the same way Philippe Coutinho unsettled the Liverpool dressing room before leaving. It is unclear if he would do that next summer or in the next winter window.
Manchester United are preparing to hold new contract talks with de Gea, but if they want to keep him, they may need to pay him almost as much as Alexis Sanchez currently takes home weekly. Alternatively, they could willingly sell the Spaniard for a record fee and sign Athletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak.
