Jose Mourinho has opened talks with the representatives of Tottenham contract rebel, Toby Aderweireld, but the Lilywhites are asking the Red Devils to pay the same £75 million Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk in January.
The Belgian has been left out of Tottenham’s squad for the final few matches of the season as he continues to reject their offer to extend his current deal. He is said to have been offered £120,000 per week to remain at White Hart Lane for the next couple of seasons, but he wants more and believes he can almost double that figure at Manchester United.
The Red Devils are looking to bring in a few new faces especially in defence as they failed to win the Premier League yet again, and Mourinho believes the former Ajax man is the guy to sign.
The Belgian is also attracting the attention of Liverpool and Real Madrid, but a move to United is the most likely option at the moment as they have been relentless in their pursuit of his signature.
Mauricio Pochettino has been preparing for life without the defender having settled for the centre back pairing of Davinson Sanchez and Jan Ventoghen for most part of this season.
Manchester United are prepared to pay £40 million for his signature.
