Manchester United have asked if they can re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo this summer as the former Manchester United man looks set to depart the Bernabeu.
Ronaldo left Old Trafford in the summer of 2009 to join the European champions and he has gone on to enjoy legendary status with the Spaniards having won the last three Champions League titles with them.
However, he is looking to get his current wage up and on the same level as Neymar and Lionel Messi and Real Madrid have refused to grant him that request so far.
Italian giants, Juventus are closing in on signing the attacker for a reported £88 million fee, but Manchester United hope they can beat the Italians to his signature.
Sun Sport claims that the Red Devils are prepared to match Juve’s offer for Ronaldo, but they have been told that Juventus are leading the race for his signature.
Ed Woodward is said to have personally sent an enquiry to Los Blancos but he was informed that Juventus have gone far in their efforts to sign Ronaldo and it would be almost impossible to reunite the Portuguese star with Jose Mourinho this summer.
