Manchester United have stepped up their pursuit of a new centre back by asking Leicester City about the availability of Harry Maguire.
The Red Devils are in the market to strengthen their defence and they have made some of Europe’s best defenders their target.
The likes of Leonardo Bonucci, Jerome Boateng and Toby Alderweireld have been linked with moves to Old Trafford this summer.
However, Maguire who caught the eye at the just concluded FIFA World Cup seems to have become Mourinho’s first choice now.
The English man was in solid form as he helped the Three Lions reach the semifinal while partnering John Stones at the heart of England’s defence.
Leicester City have said that Maguire is not for sale as he is a key part of their future plans, however, Manchester United are hoping to tempt the Foxes into selling for a huge fee.
He is said to be valued at £65 million. This fee wouldn’t be too much for a defender who is still just 25 years old and very experienced.
The likes of Alderweireld and Boateng are already either in their 30s or close to that age group, and they would not join the Red Devils for significantly less than that amount.
