One person who seems to have enjoyed Manchester United’s signing of Alexis Sanchez from under the noses of Manchester City is, Garry Neville.
Manchester United pipped City to the signing of Sanchez from Arsenal this month and Garry Neville wants them to do that again.
The former Valencia manager wants the Red Devils to sign Manchester City target Aymeric Laporte. The French defender is one of several players Pep Guardiola is considering making an offer for this month. The 23 years old has been outstanding for Bilbao since he made his debut 6 years ago. He came close to joining Manchester City last season, but turned down Guardiola as he had just returned from a long term injury.
Nevile’s Valencia faced Bilbao 3 times during his ill-fated managerial spell in the La Liga, and the Sky Sports pundit, believes Laporte “can play”.
Kompany has struggled with injuries this season, and John Stones also had some time out with injury and Guardiola believes Laporte can help cover up whenever these forced absences come along. Laporte has a €50 million release clause written into his current contract.
Mourinho wants to win the Premier League next season, but his current back four is made of several veterans who were signed by Sir Alex Ferguson and he would be looking to bring his own defenders before the season begins.
