Manchester have stepped up their pursuit of a new midfielder this summer with a £45 million offer for Matteo Kovacic.
The Red Devils are looking for extra bodies in the middle but apart from Fred other targets have eluded them so far.
They have plotted moves for the likes of Toni Kroos, Arturo Vidal and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, but those pursuits have all reached a dead end and they now want Kovacic.
However, Sun Sport claims that the midfielder is not keen on signing for them and he believes that Mourinho’s style of play does not suit him.
Kovacic joined Madrid in 2015, and has won the Champions League in every season he has been at the Bernabeu; however, he has remained only a backup to the trio of Casimero, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, and now wants out.
Kovacic, 24, told the European champions that he wanted to leave this summer for regular first team football before the World Cup. He had a meeting with Julen Lopetegui when he resumed preseason, and reiterated his desire to leave if he cannot be guaranteed regular first team football.
