Manchester United’s bid to sign Jerome Boateng has come under doubt after Juventus threw their hat into the ring as they bid to compete with the Red Devils for his signature.
Boateng is on his way out of Bayern Munich after informing the German champions that he wants a new challenge. Bayern are also willing to allow him leave as they seek to rebuild their squad under new manager, Nico Kovac.
Boateng has Premier League experience having spent one season at Manchester City in 2010, however, it wasn’t a good spell and he quickly returned to his native Germany and signed for Bayern.
The former Schalke 04 star has admitted he didn’t enjoy the Premier League at the time, but he is now more matured and experienced to deal with pressure that comes from competing in the EPL.
Juventus are the latest side looking to sign him, according to CalcioMercato, Juve need to bolster their defence as Giorgio Chiellini is ageing, Danielle Rugani is struggling to impress and the future of Mehdi Benatia is in doubt.
Jose Mourinho could win the race for a £25 million permanent move as Juventus are looking for an initial loan deal.
