Manchester United have contacted Borussia Dortmund over the transfer of Marc Bartra.
According to reports in the Spanish press Bartra is set to leave the Bundesliga side after just 18 months there. He was reportedly certain to join Real Betis after the Germans slapped a price tag of £15 million on his head, but that move has now been delayed after Manchester United entered the race.
Jose Mourinho is impressed by Bartra’s ability to play the ball out of the defence as well as fill in at right back when needed to, and the Portuguese manager wants him to replace Daley Blind.
Blind’s contract would run out at the end of this season and he has not made an impression on Mourinho since the Portuguese manager took over at Old Trafford last season.
Manchester United are ready to meet Dortmund’s £15 million demand and could even add Blind in the move if the Germans are interested.
Bartra had been looking to move back to the La Liga, but he would not turn down the chance to sign for Manchester United, although he wants to play regularly and see if he can win a place in Spain’s World Cup squad later this year.
