Manchester United’s planned swoop for Bayern Munich’s Arturo Vidal has been thrown into a major doubt after the Chilean committed his future to the Bavarians.
The Red Devils are looking for a new midfielder to replace Michael Carrick, and hoped to land Vidal. They had made Fred their top priority, but the Brazilian has agreed a move to Manchester City instead.
United thought the deal would be easy to pull through after Bayern Munich announced the capture of Leon Goretzka from Schalke 04 who would join them after this season, but it now appears more complicated after Vidal’s latest admission.
The Chilean was asked about his future by Sport1 and claimed: “I’m not thinking about a transfer. I feel very comfortable here.
‘of course I would like to extend my contract. That’s an option. My kids are very happy here too”
This would come as a bitter blow to the Red Devils who hoped to compete for the Champions League and Premier League title next season.
Vidal has been the difference between success and failure for Bayern this season, and he has made a habit of scoring vital winning goals when the Bavarians have struggled for goals this season. He has 6 goals in 18 league games so far.
