Manchester United’s search for a new defender before the season begins has taken many twists and turns the latest of which is the breakdown in talks over a move for Yerry Mina because they could not agree on the agent fee involved.
The Red Devils’ manager have been left frustrated by a lack of signings in that area, but he is set to be made happy as the FA Cup finalists close in on a move for an experienced centre back.
Sports Bild claims that the Red Devils have contacted Bayern Munich over a move for Jerome Boateng. The German has always featured on the list of defenders that Mourinho have desired this summer.
He is, however, already 30 by next month and the Germans still want top dollar for his signature. According to the reports, Bayern value Boateng at £45 million.
The defender played for Manchester City earlier in his career, but has been at the German champions since 2011. He has won 6 league titles, the Champions League and the German Cup during his time there. However, he has suffered from injuries in recent seasons and may struggle to cope with the physicality of the Premier League.
