Manchester United are optimistic that they would complete the signing of William now that Brazil have exited the World Cup.
The Red Devils have made the Brazilian their number one summer target after Jose Mourinho told the club that Willian featured in his plan for the new season. The player’s future became clear to see that it would be away from Stamford Bridge after Barcelona made a £50 million bid for his signature.
While Chelsea rejected the advances of the Catalans, it appears they are ready to listen to offers between £60-70 million. United are preparing to beat Barca to his signature and reunite him with Jose Mourinho after the Portuguese boss signed him for the Blues in 2013.
The Red Devils have already signed one Brazilian this after their £52 million move for Fred before the World Cup. Willian had vowed to remain focused on the World Cup, but they were eliminated on Friday and he would now turn his attention to his future.
Willian was frustrated by his role under Antonio Conte last season and he had reportedly told close friends that he does not want to play under the Italian again this season. However, Conte is back after Chelsea failed to land Maurizio Sarri and Willian may ask to leave.
