Manchester United are set to miss out on the signing of another Jose Mourinho’s target after Sergej Milinkovic-Savic declared that he would not be leaving Lazio this summer.
Mourinho is desperate to sign a new midfielder this summer and he has been linked with several others like Toni Kroos, Matteo Kovacic, Isco, among others. However, a move for Serbian star, Milinkovic-Savic seemed to be an easier option, but that is also going to be impossible now.
Chelsea and Real Madrid have also been linked to the World Cup star, these interests has seen Lazio set their asking price for his signature at £120 million. Reports in the past week even claimed that Chelsea were prepared to make the Italians an offer of £115 million, but that has proven to be false.
The midfielder was asked about his future by a group of young fans, and he assured them that he was staying put at the Stadio Olimpico beyond this summer.
He was returning for preseason training when the fans asked him about his future, and he reportedly told them: “Of course I’m staying, do you not see that I’m here?”
This news would come as a bitter blow to Jose Mourinho whose relationship with the board is already at an all-time low due to the lack of new signings.
