Manchester City are yet to make a signing this summer, and what may even be more painful is that they have watched as their rivals Manchester United make two signings including beating them to the signature of Fred.
However, the fans of the Cityzens would soon be delighted by the completion of a transfer and it is one that should bring joy to them.
Sun Sport reports that the Premier League champions are closing in on the signing of Jorginho from Napoli and the Brazilian could complete his transfer this week.
Jorginho’s move has been delayed by Napoli’s failure to find a replacement yet, but the player and the English team are confident that the move would be confirmed soon.
Jorginho is currently in Brazil on holiday with his family, but he has reached verbal agreements with City over a deal reportedly for the next five years. He brings craft and guile to City’s midfield and his transfer was necessitated by the departure of Yaya Toure.
Pep Guardiola is also hopeful of completing the transfer of Riyad Mahrez before the start of preseason. The Algerian winger was close to signing for City in January but the Cityzens were priced out of the deal.
