A mixture of indifferent transfer news for Liverpool fans today with still no solid news on a potential Coutinho replacement.
The former Liverpool playmaker was the subject of a huge Barcelona deal recently but our sources suggest that the Anfield outfit aren’t in any rush to fill the position this window. Numerous media outlets have suggested that James Rodriguez, currently on loan at Bayern from Real Madrid could be an option however we understand he’d be well overpriced. On top of that, a deal now which would include three clubs would be far too problematic to get sorted this month.
One surprise to us is that Liverpool may not be as keen as we had heard to let young Ben Woodburn go out on loan. He was linked with a move to Championship side Sunderland. This might be because Klopp wants him to gain experience in the Premiership instead or that he wants to keep him in the squad for the remainder of the season. It will be interesting to see how this one develops.
Liverpool are seeking suitors for Daniel Sturridge though with some interest from abroad but only as a loan option. With the World Cup almost upon us he’s looking for as much match time as possible but even if Liverpool loan him out, his chances of attending the tournament are diminishing fast. The England forward might find that his best chance is to stay at Anfield and take his chance if one arises.
