Despite Juventus bold claim that they would do whatever it takes to sign Emre Can from Liverpool, the Reds are still in the best position to get the German to stay longer.
Reports from Mirror Sport is claiming that the Italians have admitted doubts over if the German would join them.
Can has just under 6 months left in his current Liverpool deal and despite the fact that talks of a contract renewal has been ongoing for two years now, he has still not signed an extension.
It is reported that Can wants a release clause written into his new deal before he puts pen to paper, but Liverpool do not want to offer him that preferential treatment.
Juventus who are the “kings of free-agents” have been in talks with the German’s representatives, and they expected him to have signed a pre-contract with them by now.
But Can is keeping his options open and even claims he can still sign a new Liverpool contract.
Jurgen Klopp is obviously a fan of his compatriot, and has insisted that Can would continue to feature in his plans as long as he continues to be committed.
Liverpool are planning to make a new offer for the midfielder before the end of the season.
