Liverpool have entered the race to sign Stoke City star, Xherdan Shaqiri following the relegation of the Potters this season.
Shaqiri has made it clear that he was leaving the relegated Potters while also stating that his preference was to remain in the Premier League. There are no shortage of takers for the former Bayern Munich man and it seems only a matter of time before he leaves them.
Manchester United were rumoured to be leading the race for his signature with Jose Mourinho keen on bringing him to Old Trafford after watching him at the World Cup, but Liverpool would now look to steal a march on them.
Jurgen Klopp is looking for good backups to Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in Liverpool’s wide attacking areas and he believes that Shaqiri is of the required quality.
Shaqiri is currently on an extended break following Switzerland’s exit from the World Cup and he has stated that his future would be resolved soon. Liverpool fans would be hoping he would agree to play a backup role having previously had problems at Inter Milan and Bayern Munich because he was not offered enough playing time.
