Ahead of their match this weekend, Southampton have come back into the spotlight as Liverpool’s feeder team.
The Reds have been signing players from Southampton almost every year for the past couple of seasons. With Virgil van Dijk the latest to make a record move from the Saints just last month.
There have been successes and failures, from the likes of Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne, and Sadio Mane being considered successes while others like Rickie Lambert have struggled to impress.
Reports this weekend are claiming that the Reds will return to sign another star from Southampton next summer, with James Ward-Prowse their likely target.
The England Under 21 international has developed into one of the finest set piece takers in the Premier League this season, and Liverpool consider him as one of the players who could replace the outgoing Emre Can.
Ward-Prowse is expected to develop further as the season progresses and Liverpool hope he would join them in a deal worth less than £20 million.
Southampton currently value him at £14 million, but they know just how to squeeze more money from Liverpool and they could sell him for up to £25 million.
