Liverpool are set to complete the signing of one of Portugal’s most exciting youngsters, Diogo Leite.
The Reds have been tracking the Porto B centre back this season, however, reports claim that Arsenal have been monitoring his progress much earlier and even offered to pay his release clause last season, but the Portuguese club convinced him to remain with them and continue his development.
He has continued to star for Porto’s second team and the momentum seems to have shifted in favour of Liverpool now.
Leite is said to have been impressed by Jurgen Klopp’s willingness to give young players opportunities to develop their game and believes the German is the perfect manager for him.
If he joins the Reds, he would also be delivering a crushing blow to Manchester United who have been desperate to capture his attention this season, but Mourinho’s preference for more established professionals seems to be playing against them.
Leite helped to enhance his value recently when he helped the FC Porto Under 23 side beat their Arsenal counterpart to win the Premier League International Cup this week.
