Real Madrid are preparing to hold talks with Liverpool target Marco Asensio as the Reds prepare to sign him for a stunning £166 million.
Liverpool are desperate to sign a new superstar to replace Philippe Coutinho who joined Barcelona in the January transfer window. They had initially targeted French star Nabil Fekir, however, they pulled out of the deal for the French man and they now want to go big by signing Asensio.
The Spaniard has also done little to suggest he would reject the move to Anfield but Real Madrid are unwilling to let him go. Los Blancos plan to hold talks with him after the World Cup and convince him that he has an important role to play under Julen Lopetegui.
Asensio was asked about his rumoured move to Liverpool recently and he said:
“Liverpool? When the World Cup is over, we’ll talk about that sort of thing.
“Now, I’m focused on selection (for Spain).
“I’m glad Julen (Lopetegui – former Spain boss) has signed up for Real – after the World Cup we’ll talk things over with him.”
Liverpool have been ambitious this summer after completing moves for Fabinho and Naby Keita, it is obvious to see that the Reds want to challenge for trophies next season.
