Juventus – Tottenham Champions League Preview

After the break for the winter, the round of 16 for the Champions League begins tomorrow with the matches between Juventus and Tottenham and Basel vs Manchester City. The former seems much more interesting than the latter so let’s discuss about this one.

Juventus went through as second in Group D behind Barcelona. They had one defeat and one draw against the Spaniards, one draw to Sporting Lisbon, while they defeated Olympiacos Piraeus twice and Sporting once. It cannot be said that their performances have been overwhelming. They did what they needed to do to get through to this phase and no more. However, this is a different time of the year and a different stage.

Judging by their latest performances in Italy, where they are second behind Napoli, it cannot be said that they play very good football, but they do play a very effective football that resulted in them not only being undefeated, but also without even a single draw since the beginning of the year. 7 games and 7 wins is their record. In addition, they have not conceded a goal yet, having scored 16!

If Juventus is effective, Tottenham are not only good, they are also lucky. They dominated Group H where they finished first, 3 points ahead of Real Madrid without a single loss conceding only 4 goals in the process! They are 4th in the Premier League after a drama at Anfield where they should have lost but managed to get a 2-2 draw after a 93rd minute penalty call!

However, the Spurs may not be fresh. They are coming out of a very difficult set of matches where they faced all their rivals consecutively. As aforementioned they got a draw from Liverpool while they defeated both Arsenal and Manchester United. This streak may have their bodies a bit tired but their spirits are surely very high.

A lot depends and the two main battle tanks of each side. Gonzalo Higuain and Harry Kane. They are both very prolific lately and they score at will. Not to forget of course that there is a huge difference to the men guarding the goal posts when one side have Gigi Buffon.

It’s all hands on deck on this one. All markets are open and all odds present interest. The best thing to do is get on the VIP Platform, check those odds side by side, and make your own decision according to your own homework and gut feeling.
