Jose Mourinho wants to sign Toni Kroos this summer as he plots to win more trophies for the Red Devils.
Kroos has just suffered the embarrassment of being eliminated from the group stage of the World Cup for the first time in 80 years with Germany, but he remains one of the World’s best midfielders who have won the last three Champions League trophies.
The former Bayern Munich man was also a target of Mourinho last summer, however, the deal could not work out as Real Madrid were unwilling to listen to offers for the German.
Sun Sport claims that Mourinho had a meeting with Ed Woodward this week and they discussed plans about the new season including new signings. In that meeting, Mourinho is reported to have told the United chief that the German midfielder is his priority target and they should stop at nothing to sign him.
Kroos has not been placed on the market by Real Madrid but with a new manager at the helm he may need reassurances over his future. The German has a contract with the European champions until 2021 and his current release clause is over £400 million.
