Jose Mourinho seems to have had enough of the calamitous defensive duo, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones and he is set to replace them after this season.
Smalling and Jones have come under increased scrutiny recently and match after-match at least one of them continues to show that they are not good enough for a team as ambitious as the Red Devils.
Smalling conceded the free kick that Newcastle scored in their 1-0 loss to the Magpies, while Jones netted an own goal in their 2-0 loss to Tottenham. These results have seen them fall out of the title and Jose Mourinho wants to take action.
The Portuguese manager has already signed Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailey since he joined them two seasons ago; however, he wants the club to spend big in replacing the English duo.
Mourinho has complained in the past about their counterparts spending on defenders as though they were attackers. This complaint came after Liverpool spent £75 million on Virgil van Dijk and Manchester City broke their transfer record to land Aymeric Laporte from Athetic Bilbao for £57 million.
