Jose Mourinho believes he can turn the career of Real Madrid star Mateo Kovacic around if he manages the Croatian and has asked his club to sign him.
The Red Devils are looking to sign midfielders next summer as they are going to lose Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick. However, they have not been successful in getting their main targets so far.
Mateo Kovacic has been a squad member at the Bernabeu since he joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2015. He decided against a move to Liverpool that time but he could be ready to play in the EPL finally.
He knows that he cannot upset the established setup at Real Madrid except he leaves and at the age of 23, Mourinho believes he can still help him reach his obvious potentials.
Real Madrid are expected to sign some new players next season after another underperforming season in the La Liga and although Kovacic is not one of the established names who are been criticized, he wants to make a move and reignite his career.
Mourinho is aware that signing the Croatian would be a gamble after seeing another fringe Real Madrid player – Alvaro Morata struggle in the Premier League, but he still wants to give Kovacic the benefit of the doubt.
