The World’s most famous steeplechase is the Grand National with viewing figures now believed to have reached between 500 to 600 million around the world. With the vast interest many people will be looking for the best bets for the Grand National and which horses to follow come the big race. There are many trends that can be followed in order to narrow down the field such as Age, Weight and even Favourites.
One thing that is paramount is a horse having no issues with stamina and being an assured jumper with the unique test that the National provides. This is backed up in the fact that only 2 horses in the last 47 years have been victorious in the race having not already won over at least 3 miles. These two were Gay Trip in 1970 and more recently Rule the World in 2016. One horse that looks to tick a lot of boxes going in to the race this year is the favourite Blaklion. This is following on from his highly encouraging fourth place finish in last year’s race on top of his easy victory in the Becher Chase.
