Espanyol have kept the door open for Tottenham and Manchester United to land their transfer target Aaron Martin.
The Catalans have reportedly rejected a £16 million offer from German side RB Leipzig as they are determined to get more from the sale of their exciting youngster.
Martin has been impressing down the left side of Espanyol’s defence since he broke through, and the Catalans see him as a major source of revenue when he does leave them.
His performances has attracted the interest of several top European sides who look to prize him away, but a move to the Premier League would offer Espanyol more money.
Jose Mourinho has been looking at reports about Martin as his search for a permanent left back continues. Although the Portuguese manager has been impressed by Luke Shaw’s upturn in form, he is not fully convinced by the England man.
Mauricio Pochettino is preparing for life after Danny Rose who could finally complete his long awaited transfer to Manchester United next summer. Pochettino believes he has the upper hand in the transfer race as he is a former manager of the Catalan side.
Martin has a release clause of £26 million, but that would rise to £35 million at the end of June this year. Espanyol could however, sell him for less than his release clause but they want to ensure they get the highest fee he can command.
