Liverpool’s attempt to revive contract talks with Emre Can seems to already be dead on arrival as the German is reported to have already committed to Juventus.
Can, 24, has under six months left on his current Red’s deal and he has rebuffed their attempt to get him to sign a new deal. It has been two years since they have been negotiating with the German and his representatives, but they seem to have lost the battle.
Can has insisted that he could still sign a new deal with the Reds, but respected Italian agent Federico Pastorello claims the German has already agreed to join Juve.
According to Pastorello, “Can is a huge coup, even more so because he’ll arrive on a free transfer.
“Marotta and Paratici have done very well. Juven are a club that attract champions, and important signals are coming from the German.”
Liverpool have already lost another midfielder in the person of Philippe Coutinho this season, and although Naby Keita would join them after this season, they would prefer to still keep hold of Can.
It is reported that Can wants a release clause inserted into his new deal, but Liverpool do not want to offer him that special treatment.
