Manchester United number one David de Gea is prepared to remain at Old Trafford for the rest of his career, but the Red Devils will pay a premium for his long term future.
Manchester United are planning to sit down with the former Atletico Madrid goalie to get him to sign a new deal at some point this season. Manchester The Red Devils are aware of the interest of Real Madrid in his signature, and they want to get his future sorted out once and for all.
David de Gea also knows how valuable he is to the team and he is prepared to get what he is worth, in this case £375, 000 per week. De Gea reportedly wanted to ask for £300,000 per week to put him in the same wage bracket as Paul Pogba, but the arrival of Alexis Sanchez has changed all that.
Sun Sport is reporting that he and his representatives are looking to make him the second highest paid player in the club after Sanchez.
An Old Trafford source was quoted saying “The goalposts have shifted dramatically with what the likes of Sanchez, Pogba, Lukaku and Ibrahimovic are on.
David knows his next contract could be his last big one and that Real Madrid are still hovering in the background.”
His current contract expires at the end of this season, but the Red Devils have an option to extend it by one year, and they look likely to exercise that option soon.
