Real Madrid have been dealt a massive blow in their quest to sign Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea after the Spaniard revealed he is happy at Old Trafford.
The Spain number one has been at the home of the Europa League holders since the summer of 2011 and came very close to joining Real Madrid of deadline day in 2015. That deal fell through by some seconds but Los Blancos have not given up on signing him.
However, to the massive delight of the Red Devil’s fans, he has declared he is happy to remain at Old Trafford even though there have been ups and downs for the seven years he has been with them.
Speaking to Daily Star he claimed: “Time flies by so quickly. I’ve been here seven years and I am happy.
“A lot has happened to me – some very good, some not so good, – but to be honest I am just really happy.
“I feel like an important player in the dressing room. I am one of the oldest in the team.
“It makes me happy to see the younger players coming through – and trying to make United big.”
He has been ever-present for Jose Mourinho’s side this season, featuring in all of their league games so far.
