Chelsea have begun planning for life without Thibaut Courtois after the Belgian star went AWOL to try and force a move to Real Madrid.
Courtois was supposed to be in the stands when Chelsea faced Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday and resume training with his teammates the following day, however, he has still not joined up with his teammates in London.
Reports claim that the World Cup Golden Glove winner has gone AWOL in a bid to force through his move to Real Madrid.
With just three days to go before the transfer window shuts, the Blues are trying to avoid being left in a bad situation and they have made Jack Butland a target.
Butland suffered relegation with Stoke City last season and started his Championship campaign with a sensational error at the weekend as the Potters were beaten by Leeds United, however, he remains one of the highly-rated goalies in the country.
His reputation has seen him being linked with clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool in the past 12 months, but he may now end up at Stamford Bridge. The Blues would however, not get him cheaply as Stoke City are looking to earn at least £25 million when he moves.
