One or two shocks and surprises today as Chelsea look to bring in another striker. A close source of ours has suggested that Andy Carroll will be a Chelsea player by the weekend however our Italian partners believe that Edin Dzecko could be a surprise signing.
The Roma striker is 32 in March, only a little older than Carroll but this could be deemed as a bid for a stronger forward and bit more experience. Whether Dzecko wishes to swap the streets of Rome for more money in London will be a key question. If it doesn’t happen this January then it won’t happen in the summer, this is purely a boost signing.
It would cost Chelsea a lot of money too and Roma won’t want to see their star striker leave. You can also bet your last dollar that Dzecko will not want to move to London to warm the bench when he has Champions League footy in the heart of the Italy. Carroll certainly looks the more likely.
Arturo Vidal still remains of interest to Chelsea as does Alex Telles of FC Porto which could be an interesting move.
It’s a difficult period for Chelsea at the moment. The players confidence does not appear to be at its highest plus the fact that Conte might not be about at the end of the season will have the players and the financial team’s thinking caps ticking over.
Emerson Palmieri is a possibility but there remains big concerns over a potential work permit and his health, with the left back still having issues with his knee.
