Chelsea’s move for another striker has taken a huge turn and perhaps a positive one for the Stamford Bridge faithful. Sources close to us suggest Chelsea are keen on signing Jamie Vardy this January and that the player would be keen on a change.
The move comes after Dzeko declined to talk as he would be cup tied for the Champions League and Andy Carroll’s injury issue which may require an operation.
Vardy though will not be happy to sit on the bench and with his experience and strike rate would not only provide Morata with competition but could also demote him to the bench himself.
Leicester are unlikely to want to sell so Chelsea will be required to create a deal big enough to attract the attention of the recent Champions with phone calls circulation that something around £45m might be enough.
At 31 this would be a short term deal and it very much depends on how desperate Chelsea and Conte are for his signature. There is also the fact that Conte could be leaving the Bridge this summer so full financial support might not be provided to the manager.
We understand that the interest has grown over the last 24 hours and that it is not related to the recent tweet by Vardu where he liked a Tweet from someone asking him to join Chelsea.
