Chelsea have been dealt a major blow in their bid to replace Alvaro Morata with Edison Cavani after the Uruguay attacker agreed to move to Atletico Madrid instead.
Cavani has been looking for a move away from PSG after the arrival of Neymar created a divided dressing room in the French capital, he had been expected to move to England with Chelsea, but the language barrier may have forced him to choose Spain instead.
According to the reports, Cavani is set to replace Antoine Griezmann who is widely expected to join Barcelona next summer despite interest from Manchester United.
His Uruguayan teammates, Diego Godin and Jose Jimenez are believed to have played a major role in Cavani choosing the Spanish capital over Chelsea, the Blues would now turn their attention to other targets.
Cavani has scored more than 30 goals for PSG this season, and despite the arrival of Neymar he remains one of their best players and became their record goalscorer this season with 115 goals and still counting.
Morata is closing in on a three years loan deal with Juventus this season, and the Blues hope to make at least £55M from the £65m they paid to bring him from Real Madrid last summer.
