Chelsea have suffered a fresh blow in their bid to land England number one, Jordan Pickford as the Toffees prepare to offer him a bumper pay rise.
Pickford starred for England at the just concluded World Cup as the Three Lions went all the way to the semifinals.
His performances nearly earned him the competition’s Golden Glove and he has now made himself the subject of interest from the top European sides.
Chelsea are not the only team who are interested in signing him this summer. Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also looking to make a move for the former Sunderland man, but Chelsea believe they have the advantage as he would not want to move far away from home.
However, Everton are not willing to let him go without a fight, and they have decided to offer him a new lucrative long term deal to keep him on Merseyside for a longer period.
The Blues are bracing themselves to lose Thibaut Courtois this summer as the World Cup Golden Glove winner continues to look for a move away.
The Belgian has not signed a new £200,000 per week deal that has been offered to him since the end of the 2016/2017 season and has just one year left on his current deal.
Courtois wants a move to Madrid so that he can be closer to his family, and the Blues want Pickford to replace.
