Chelsea may have succeeded in keeping Eden Hazard away from the hands of Real Madrid at least for now, but it appears as if the Blues would still have to fight off interest from the European champions for another of their star man.
Reports on Sun Sport claim that Atletico Madrid and their city rivals Real Madrid are interested in signing Marcos Alonso before the end of this transfer window.
The European champions are lacking a quality backup in that department after allowing Theo Hernandez to join Real Betis on loan for the rest of the season. They see the 27years old Alonso as a top option to compete with Marcelo.
Atletico are thinking of allowing Felipe Luis join PSG who have enquired about the Brazilian, and they would want Alonso to replace him when he does leave them.
Alonso is Chelsea’s first choice left back as he has continued to impress since his move from Fiorentina in 2016. However, he hasn’t been able to get into the Spanish national team. A move back to the La Liga where he was developed by Real Madrid is set to offer him a better chance to impress the national team handlers.
