Chelsea are set to complete the signing of former Manchester City star Edin Dzeko.
The Blues have made progress with AS Roma but only a few minor details with the player remains to be sorted out.
According to Metro Sport, the only problem delaying the deal is Chelsea’s reluctance to offer Dzeko more than a year’s contract.
The Bosnian currently has a deal with Roma until the summer of 2021, and wants the Blues to match that.
Dzeko previously had reservations about moving to London as he perceived that he was only going to be a back up to Alvaro Morata.
However, Antonio Conte has assured him that he is in his plans and would feature more than Michy Batshuayi has done.
Chelsea are also looking to bring in Dzeko’s team mate, Emerson Palmieri also.
The Brazil-born Italy international is been signed to help take some responsibilities off Marcos Alonso.
Although Palmieri has played only once for Roma this season, he was one of their star men last season and was their first choice left back before the signing of Aleksandar Kolarov.
Dzeko has scored 9 goals in 20 league games for the Romans this season.
