Chelsea left back Baba Rahman is close to ending his blues nightmare as he closes in on a move back to Germany.
The Ghanaian has been on the periphery since Antonio Conte took over at Chelsea two seasons ago. He made a similar move to Germany last season, but his loan deal was cut short in January 2017 after he sustained a season-ending injury.
He returns to Gelsenkirchen this time on an 18 months loan deal as he looks to resurrect his career. The Germans have been keen to be reunited with Rahman all winter, but the Blues wanted to sign a replacement first.
Chelsea have also allowed another leftback Kennedy leave on loan to Newcastle as they await the completion of their move for Roma’s Emerson Palmieri.
The Blues are reportedly planning to add a recall clause in Rahman’s deal as they have reservations about Palmieri’s fitness also. Palmieri has played only once for Roma this season as he injured himself in the final game of last season.
Rahman has made only 23 appearances for Chelsea since he joined them from Aubsburg for £21 million in the summer of 2015.
