Chelsea’s search for a new attacker is still ongoing and there seems to be no end in sight.
The Blues have targeted several Premier League attackers including Peter Crouch, Ashley Barnes, and Andy Carroll over the past couple of weeks as they want an attacker with Premier League experience.
They have turned their attention to AS Roma’s Edin Dzeko over the past couple of days, however, talks with the Bosnian is making very slow progress and the Blues are now looking for alternatives. One of the players Antonio Conte has told them they can sign is Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud.
The French man is currently out of favour at the Emirates, and the imminent arrival of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund would push him further down the pecking order.
Giroud is also wanted by Borussia Dortmund in a separate deal, but the German’s are unwilling to offer more than a £1.3 million loan fee for the attacker. Antonio Conte is an admirer of Giroud’s aerial prowess as well as his hold up play and believes he would add another dimension to his team’s attacking play.
Giroud has netted 7 goals in 25 games in all competitions this season, but he has been used as a substitute in the majority of the games.
