Chelsea seem to have given up on their bid to sign AS Roma attacker, Edin Dzeko as the transfer may not be complete by Wednesday’s deadline day.
The Blues have been looking to bring back the Bosnian to the Premier League this month in their quest to add a tall striker who has Premier League experience to their team. But Dzeko’s family has been very reluctant to leave Rome and they have made some outrageous demands to the Blues before joining.
Among other things, Dzeko is demanding that the Blues match his current contract length at Roma which would expire in 2021, but the Blues only offer one year deals to players who are over 30 years of age. He also wants to be guaranteed a regular playing time at Stamford Bridge.
These issues have delayed the deal since last week and the Blues would move on if they can’t sign him by today. This has opened the door for them to move for Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud.
Giroud also has the issue of age not being on his side as he is 31 years old already and would not want to leave his long term deal at the Emirates for a single year’s contract.
However, the Gunners are open to selling the French man as they look to sign Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and would allow him leave for £35 million.
